Final Reflection
In the beginning of the term, the two goals I set for myself are
to be able to step out of my comfort zone and speak up more, as well as to be
more confident when giving a presentation. Now that it has come to the end of
the term, I can say that I have reached my goal, but it is not optimal. Through
these 10 weeks of technical communications module, I have learnt how to write a
formal proposal report, letter of transmittal and how to cite sources correctly
using APA style. Through these lessons, I am given the chance to give
constructive criticism and feedbacks to my peers which helps me to get a better
idea of what I am learning as I learn from their strengths and weaknesses. This
module had also given me the opportunity to work with more people and this
allows me to step out of my comfort zone and speak up my ideas. The progress
from pitching to final presentation have helped me to gain confidence in front
of the audiences gradually.
During the showcase, I am an audience member and a presenter.
While I was watching the other teams presenting, I am quite amazed by their
presentation skills and confidences, especially NoticeU Technology. They have a
unique way of presenting as they started off by talking about accidents that
happened before introducing themselves and the product they want to talk about.
I feel that this makes them stands out as it really helps to catch the audiences’
attention and it is a good learning point for me. On the other hand, while I am
presenting, I felt less nervous as compared to the final presentation in class
and I am glad that I manage to cover what I wanted to share. Through this
experience, I realized that I need to practice and refine my presentation
skills to be a better presenter.
Thank you for this final reflection, Ai Min. I appreciate your effort with this assignment, the hard work with the added presentation for the showcase, and your work with the module in general.
ReplyDeleteIn the reflection, this sentence in particular is striking: "I am given the chance to give constructive criticism and feedbacks to my peers which helps me to get a better idea of what I am learning as I learn from their strengths and weaknesses." I'm happy that was the case.
Best wishes as you continue your learning journey at SIT and beyond.
